Boarding Contract

Guidelines and Rules for facility use

Pickwick Stables strives to be a competitive Hunter/Jumper show stable and anticipates that all boarders and students will pursue weekly lessons and will want to attend at least one of the scheduled shows per month. Board Rates reflect this expectation. All board packages include basic care, including stall, feed, water, hay, turnout, and scheduling of routine farrier, dentist, and veterinarian services. Board bills will be posted at the start of each month, and are to be paid in advance, at the start of each month and no later then the fifth.

Use Adobe Acrobat Reader and print the Boarding Contract from a PDF file (Adobe Acrobat plug-in is necessary to read these files). Guidelines & Rules should also be printed, read and followed by each boarder, student and visitor.

The Facilities

Pickwick's facilities are open for use by all of our clients. We do ask our clients to be respectful of our lesson and show schedules when using our arenas.

The Stables

Stalls and AislewayThe Stable is a high quality facility designed to provide the elements needed for each individual performance horse to be safe, comfortable, healthy and relaxed; the keys for a successful career.

The facility is equipped with various options to best suit the different needs of each horse. The entire complex is heated and insulated, yet remains airy and bright. Stall sizes range from pony to those suitable for brood mares and larger warmbloods - averaging 10'x12'. For horses that need a private and quiet setting, there are stalls with solid dividers. More social horses enjoy the open bar dividers of other stalls. All stalls are matted and have independent waterers. The aisle ways are also premium - wide, uncluttered and blacktopped. Crossties are available in many of the stalls, and in the aisles, wash stalls and the grooming areas. An equine vacuum is available for those that prefer its advantages.

Northern entrance to the east wing of the barnThe washroom is comfortably equipped with hot and cold water, a soaking "trough" for feet and legs and heat lamps. Limited horse laundry can be done in the public washing machine. Students and boarders store tack and equipment in any one of the three, climate controlled tackrooms. Each boarder, owner, student and parent can take comfort in the fact that the management lives on the premises and is constantly aware of activities within the stables. This ensures the best possible care at all times.

The Indoor Arena

80'x160' Indoor ArenaThe heated, well ventilated, 80'x160' indoor arena ensures year-round riding ease for students and horses. The ring boasts a hi-fi stereo system for riders that enjoy riding to music or other listening pleasures. Parents and visitors can spectate in comfort from the fully furnished viewing lounge and ample ring-side seating.

The Outdoor Rings

Dedication Farms' two show rings are within close proximity of the stables and overlooking the picturesque Piney Run Reservoir. Both rings have all weather footing. "The View" is 150'x225' and "The Overlook" is 150'x250'. Both boast full sets of courses, Hunter and Jumper style, and are accentuated by lovely landscaping and flowers. A grass ring is available for flatwork and hacking.

The Accoutrements

Viewing area and loungeVisitors in the lounge have use of the full kitchen, dining area, entertainment center, equestrian library, overnight accomodations and full bath. Students and parents often make use of these accoutrements to catch up on homework before or after riding, host parties, or just to hang out and relax.

The Surrounding Area

The farm is serene and quiet for both horses and clients. Picnic areas are found throughout the farm.

The farm has extensive trails through fields and forest and along the Piney Run Reservoir. Private trails connect to the Piney Run Park's miles of bridle and walking trails, guaranteeing hours of riding enjoyment that fits into any horse's training program. The nearby community is less then a mile away and caters to every need - from fine dining to fast food, from high dollar shopping to grab n' go quick stops.
